Dibutyl phthalate (DBP)

Dibutyl phthalate (DBP)

Dibutyl phthalate (DBP) is the most commonly used plasticizer for PVC, which can make products have good flexibility, but poor durability. Stability, flexural resistance, adhesion and water resistance are superior to other plasticizers. Dibutyl phthalate is commonly used as an additive for adhesives and printing inks. Soluble in a variety of organic solvents, such as alcohol, ether and benzene.

Purpose:

Dibutyl phthalate is a plasticizer with strong solubility for various resins. It is mainly used for PVC processing and can give good softness to products. Because of its relatively low price and good processability, it is widely used in China, almost equivalent to DOP. However, due to its high volatility and water extraction, its durability is poor, and its use should be gradually restricted. It can also be used to manufacture paints, adhesives, artificial leather, printing inks, safety glass, celluloid, dyes, pesticides, spice solvents, fabric lubricants, etc.

Storage precautions:

Store in a cool and ventilated warehouse. Keep away from kindling and heat source. It shall be stored separately from oxidants and acids and shall not be mixed. Fire fighting equipment of corresponding types and quantities shall be provided. The storage area shall be equipped with leakage emergency treatment equipment and appropriate materials.
