Methanol

Methanol

Methanol, also known as hydroxymethane, is an organic compound and the simplest saturated monohydric alcohol. Its chemical formula is CH3OH/CH4O, in which CH3OH is a simple formula, which can extrude the hydroxyl of methanol. CAS No. is 67-56-1, molecular weight is 32.04, and boiling point is 64.7 ℃. It is also called "xylitol" or "lignin" because it is first found in dry distillation wood. The lowest dose of poisoning for the population is about 100mg/kg body weight, and 0.3~1g/kg oral intake can cause death. It is used in the manufacture of formaldehyde and pesticides, as well as as the extractant of organic matter and denaturant of alcohol.

Purpose:

Methanol is widely used as a basic organic chemical raw material and high-quality fuel. It is mainly used in fine chemicals, plastics and other fields to produce a variety of organic products such as formaldehyde, acetic acid, methyl chloride, methylamine, dimethyl sulfide, and is also one of the important raw materials for pesticides and pharmaceuticals. Methanol can be used as a new clean fuel after deep processing, and it can also be mixed with gasoline for burning. Methanol reacts with ammonia to produce monomethylamine.

Storage:

Store in a cool and ventilated warehouse. Keep away from kindling and heat source. The warehouse temperature should not exceed 30 ℃. Keep container sealed. It shall be stored separately from oxidants, acids, alkali metals, etc., and shall not be mixed. Explosion proof lighting and ventilation facilities shall be adopted. It is prohibited to use mechanical equipment and tools that are easy to generate sparks. The storage area shall be equipped with leakage emergency treatment equipment and appropriate materials.
